Aesthetics of Water
Liquid Epistemologies: Deltas for Another Sensory Life.
In this course, we work to restore our relationship with water, reconnecting with the various bodies of water that exist and that we are. From this perspective, we will seek to feel and think with and through water, generating knowledge and emotions.
We will work through the discipline of Aesthetics to develop our perceptive, contemplative, and emotional capacities, fostering new dialogical relationships with this element—WATER.
We will explore past and present experiences, practices, and epistemologies through which humans have cultivated diverse sensory relationships with this vital liquid. We will also examine the experiences, practices, and epistemologies that have led humanity to distance itself from and sever its sensory connections with this element.
We will weave together political, economic, artistic, curatorial, ecological, spiritual, and scientific dimensions. We will use the image of the Delta to think and feel, fostering the creation of imaginaries that strengthen the cultures of the hydrocommons, decolonizing pedagogical approaches that have framed—and continue to frame—water as an inert object.
